American Television
The SuperBowl XLIV was reported to be the most watched TV programme in US history, setting an all new ratings record outdoing the 27 year record held by the final episode of M.A.S.H. The highly coveted television advertising budget for the halftime show was reported to have been $2.5million. Television was not the only medium invaded by the American sporting spectactle, social media also set the stage for Advertisers who saw a massive surge in social media activity relating directly to their brands.

Using social media analytics software, Prophesee report that "of the 38 brands that ran ads during the commercial breaks, 75% saw the number of blog posts about them double, compared with the same evening over the past six months. More than 30% of advertisers in the Super Bowl saw a threefold rise in the number of blog posts about them."
